Join Torres Strait Islander educator, artist and workshop facilitator, Deb Belyea, for an engaging workshop on embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives into the Early Years Setting. Deb will lead you through what it means to be a culturally responsive educator, how to respectfully engage with your local First Nations communities and to explore Indigenous Peoples' perspectives through culturally respectful pedagogical approaches.
Deb is an eductor with over 20 years teaching and leadership experience, across remote and regional school settings and online university teaching. Her consultancy work across Cultural Responsiveness and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives has seen her taken onboard for nationwide training for Goodstart Early Learning Centres and C & K Creche and Kindergarten, where she most recently facilitated a breakout session at their State Conference in July, 2025. Deb is also an acclaimed artist who was the winner of the 2025 National NAIDOC Poster competition, and has been commissioned for art peices by SBS on Demand and NITV, the Torres Strait REgional Authority and the NRL Redcliffe Dolphins.
