- **Event Description**: Explore the beauty of drawing with colored pencils in this 4-part course, designed for beginners or for experienced artists ready to try something new.  Using color pencil is much more than what kids do at school or in coloring books – it is truly a fine art!

You will learn everything you need to get started – types of paper and pencils, how to put the color down, and the process of layering and blending.  Each session will introduce new techniques as we practice on three or four different renderings.  Reference images will be provided.


In this 4-part class, well-known artist and educator Phil Schorn will help you explore the beauty of drawing on black paper with colored pencil.  Learn how colors work differently on a black background as you create stunning images that will seem to come off your paper.  Though not a traditional beginner’s class, new students are welcome as well as experienced artists ready to try a new technique.

Students will learn how to put the color down on black paper, including the process of layering and blending.  Each session will introduce new techniques as you practice on three or four different renderings.  Reference images will be provided.

NOTE: Those with color pencil experience are welcome to work on a rendering of your choice.  Phil will be able to assist you with your project.

Fee for the four-part course is $200, payable at registration.
Class Dates are Tuesdays April 7, 14, 21 &amp; 28 from 6 to 8:30 pm.

Supplies:
Students should bring the following items on the first day of class, available through Blick, Amazon or your local art supply store:

~ 48-count Prismacolor softcore pencils (or a larger set of 72)
~ 1 9×12 Strathmore Artagain BLACK paper pad (or equivalent)
~ pencil sharpener (electric or manual) – Phil will have a few
~  smooth surface (drawing board to draw on)
~ clean soft paint brush (or a drafting brush)
~ kneaded eraser
