Drag & Drift Events at Crail — Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to book in advance?
No booking required! Almost all of our events are arrive and pay on the day, so just turn up and we'll get you out on track.
What time do gates open?
Gates open at 8:00am. This gives you plenty of time to get signed in, get your car scrutineered and get settled before the action starts.
What are the track hours?
Both the drag strip and drift pad are live from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
How much does it cost to get in?
Entry to the venue is £15 per person, whether you're a driver or a spectator. Under 16s are £5 and under 12s get in free.
How much does it cost to race?
Drivers pay an additional £20 on top of entry. This is a flat fee that covers both drag racing and drifting — so you can do one or both, entirely up to you. This is our new pricing structure for all 2026 events.
Can I do both drag racing and drifting?
Absolutely. Your £20 driver fee covers both activities. You can spend the day doing one, the other, or mix it up as much as you like.
How does drag racing work at Crail?
We run drag racing on our World War 2 runway using full start lights and timing equipment. You queue up in the pits, pull forward to the start line when it's your turn, wait for the green light and go. Drive flat out to the finish line, brake, then follow the signs on the return road back to the pits to queue up again.
How does drifting work at Crail?
Drifting takes place on a concrete pad that was originally a WW2 aircraft hangar. We run a figure of 8 layout and drivers go out in pairs. You choose your direction — clockwise or anti-clockwise — and drift until you're flagged to come in. Then rejoin the queue for your next session.
Is it cash only?
Yes, we are a cash only venue for both entry and racing fees, so please come prepared.
Can spectators come along?
Of course! Spectators are welcome at all events and entry is £15 per person, £5 for under 16s and free for under 12s.
