Encensé par le New York Times pour sa « véritable originalité », Rufus Wainwright s’est imposé comme l’un des grands auteurs-compositeurs-interprètes de sa génération. Il a sorti dix albums studio, dont Unfollow the Rules (2020) et Folkocracy (2023), tous deux nommés aux GRAMMY®. Il a collaboré avec Elton John, Joni Mitchell, David Byrne, Mark Ronson, Chaka Khan, Brandi Carlile, John Legend… Il a aussi écrit deux opéras et de nombreuses musiques de films et séries. En 2024, il a créé son Dream Requiem avec l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, publié chez Warner Classics en 2025.
