- **Event Description**: Once Upon A Mattress: Youth Edition is a one-hour adaptation of the beloved musical, designed for young performers.

Many moons ago in a far-off place, Queen Aggravain decreed no couples could marry until her son, Prince Dauntless, found a bride. Princesses came from far and wide to win the hand of the prince, but none could pass the impossible tests given to them by the Queen. That is, until the “shy” swamp princess, Winnifred the Woebegone, showed up. Would she be able to pass the Sensitivity Test, marry her prince and help Lady Larken and Sir Harry to the altar? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the classic tale The Princess and the Pea provides some side-splitting shenanigans. After all, a princess is a delicate thing.

AGES: Open to ages 6-18 (must be enrolled in HS if age 18).

DATES: November 2 & 4 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Callbacks will be November 5 by invitation only.

LOCATION: Dicken Elementary (2135 Runnymede Blvd. Ann Arbor, MI)

WHAT TO PREPARE: Auditionees should prepare a 1-minute song in the style of the show. Please bring a backing track (submit via the audition form). A Bluetooth speaker will be available. Songs from the show are OK. Please come dressed to move.

SHOW INFORMATION: Once Upon A Mattress: Youth Edition will be presented January 29-31, 2027 at Riverside Arts Center in Ypsilanti. Rehearsals will begin November 9, 2026 and will rehearse Monday-Thursday with occasional Friday and/or Sunday rehearsals. Not all actors will be called to all rehearsals.
