Aguanko is a Latin jazz septet from the Detroit area, led by percussionist and composer Alberto Nacif. The band's music is deeply rooted in Cuban jazz and features original compositions that blend jazz with Son-Salsa rhythms. Nacif, who was born in Oaxaca, Mexico, began playing percussion at a young age and has studied with renowned Cuban masters. Aguanko has gained national and international recognition for their music, including performances with prominent jazz musicians and multiple award nominations.
