I am very happy to announce that the annual festival of the American Liszt Society ( https://www.americanlisztsociety.net/
), with the theme "Liszt and Hungary," will be held at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance - in person, if conditions permit, for both vaccinated participants and festival registrants - from October 15-18, 2021.
We will hear a performance by George Batyi and the Gypsy Stringz, performances of the complete Hungarian Rhapsodies, music of Bartók, Kodály, Dohnányi, Ligeti, Kurtág, and many other Hungarians, as well as Rhapsodies by many other composers: music for piano, for early pianos and harpsichord, chamber works for strings, winds, percussion, and voice, and many engaging talks by some of the leading active scholars in this field. It is a stellar lineup and promises to be a very exciting event.
