Pour cette soirée hommage à Maurice Ravel, né il y a 150 ans, deux œuvres exceptionnelles du compositeur sont présentées. Walking Mad du chorégraphe suédois Johan Inger met à l’honneur le Boléro avec une scénographie permettant des effets de théâtre dont jouent avec prouesse les danseurs du Ballet de l’Opéra national du Capitole. C’est une phrase de Socrate qui a, à l’origine, inspiré le chorégraphe : « Nos plus grands bienfaits nous viennent dans des états de démence ». De quoi passer du rire aux larmes, du vaudeville au surréalisme… Daphnis & Chloé, ballet néoclassique de Thierry Malandain, propose une relecture du mythe antique et raconte les péripéties d’un amour bucolique, loin des clichés de genre. Une éducation sentimentale épurée et poétique sur une musique qui va crescendo, au sommet de l’art orchestral de Ravel.
