Live Music: Annie Mack

North Minneapolis-raised and Rochester-based, Annie Mack is a soulful singer and unflinching songwriter who grew up steeped in the Twin Cities music scene of the 80s—Prince, The Gap Band, and the funk and soul that defined the era.

What started as local gigs inspired by her mother's love of music evolved into a career that's taken her to stages across the country, from Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago to First Avenue in Minneapolis. She's shared bills with artists ranging from Dessa to blues legend Robert Cray, and is featured in the book 50 Women in the Blues alongside Bessie Smith, Bonnie Raitt, and Mavis Staples.

Her latest album Testify showcases her unique blend of blues, country, rock, and soul—music that demands your attention while inviting you in.
