- **Event Description**: The ASO has openings for the following permanent positions: Concertmaster, Violin I, Violin II, Assistant Principal Cello, Principal Bass, Oboe II, Bassoon II, Assistant Principal Horn, Percussion, and Principal Harp. Musicians interested in substitute positions for any orchestral instrument are also welcome to audition. 

Those auditioning should be ready to perform musical excerpts provided by the ASO office for ASO Music Director Elizabeth Schulze and the Audition Committee. All auditions are by appointment only on the evenings of September 8th (winds/brass/perc) and 9th (strings). Approximately 80 orchestra musicians are required for each of the five Classic Concerts scheduled this season. In addition, the ASO will perform a Silent Film, How To Train Your Dragon In Concert, Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert, the Anchorage Concert Association’s production of The Nutcracker, two Young People’s Concerts, a Family Concert, and a Neighborhood Concert.
