David will lead audience members on a journey through the creation of the neighborhood, the elimination of the Black neighborhood at the Flats during Urban Renewal, the expansion of Gambell and Ingra and its impacts on neighbors, and the demonstrated resilience and strength of Fairview's active residents.Join this closer look at the history of the neighborhood through the lens of housing and the highway, reflect on the impacts and outcomes present today, and consider our roles as Anchorage residents who can each contribute to the success of our neighbors and neighborhoods.David Reamer is a historian who writes about Anchorage. His peer-reviewed articles are frequently published in the Anchorage Daily News and include topics as diverse as baseball, housing discrimination, Alaska Jewish history and the English gin craze. He’s a UAA graduate and nerd for research who loves helping people with history questions.
