SMART Animals: Amsterdam SMART Cognitive Science Conference


The second SMART CS conference on the theme of "SMART animals" will take place in Amsterdam from December 6-8th 2017.

The keynote speakers of the conference are:

December 6th: Professor Frans de Waal (Emory University)
December 7th: Professor Elizabeth Spelke (Harvard University)
December 8th: Professor Kristin Andrews (York University)

There will be full-day workshops on the following topics:

Awareness in animal cognition
The musicality phenotype
Animal minds between narrative and cognition
Grammars, Computation & Cognition
Grammars Everywhere: language, music, art, perception & the legacy of Remko Scha
Reading like a human

SMART Cognitive Science is an initiative of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Amsterdam to provide a forum for discussions highlighting studies at the interface of the humanities and cognitive sciences. SMART is an acronym for Speech & language, Music, Art, Reasoning & Thought. Our activities are organized in close collaboration with the Amsterdam Brain and Cognition (ABC) center.
