In his trio Extra he draws from an incredible array of tricks and techniques on piccolo trumpet and flugelhorn, without sacrificing cohesion and swing. In this setting he is supported by top players who appeared on our stage many times: bassist Petter Eldh from bands such as Koma Saxo and Økse, and drummer Jim Black, a close collaborator of Dave Douglas and Tim Berne, among others.

‘This group stands at the summit of assured virtuosity,’ said Downbeat about the eponymous debut of Extra on We Jazz Records. On this album the three players often reach a unity of sound, whether or not with the help of piano, synthesizer and electronics, which they played alongside their main instruments. The album was recorded at the iconic Namouche Studio in Lisbon and it has a feeling of a session where the musicians collaborate to create something new with great excitement.
