The legendary Kirtan artist Krishna Das will be back in The Netherlands for two kirtan concerts on July 9th and July 10th in Dominicuskerk in Amsterdam, and a workshop on July 11th. He has a remarkable soulful voice that touches the deepest chord in every listener. What a joy to come together and sing our hearts out.As a special treat, Arjun Bruggeman who accompanies Krishna Das on tabla, will open with his own immersive sound journey in rhythm and mantra. We are so happy to begin with this beautiful explorative soundscape that will lead us into the chanting with KD.Kirtan is a simple and meditative traditional sadhana (spiritual practice.) The practice itself involves repetitive call and response singing between a leader and a group. Where what is being sung back and forth is mantra, sacred names, or names of God. Kirtan is said to awaken bhakti, a kind of reverential and loving devotion within the heart. In India, kirtan is given great importance as a sadhana that is suitable and accessible to all, particularly in this modern age, and this devotional singing can be heard and experienced in a myriad of forms and places. Kirtans with Krishna Das require no previous experience. All are welcome. His kirtans generally last approximately two to three hours.Krishna Das also hosts a kirtan (on July 10th) and a chat & chant (on July 11th).
