What makes you proud of who you are, and who or what brought healing into your life? In Necessary Fiction, Eloghosa Osunde (they/them) asks exactly those questions. Against the backdrop of Nigeria's Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2013, their novel centres something else entirely: love, community and healing, in all the forms they can take.Osunde is a writer and multidisciplinary artist, known for their debut novel Vagabonds!. Their work moves between the everyday and the spiritual through a magical realist lens. Necessary Fiction is made up of short stories following characters across all layers of society.CommUnity This session is part of our CommUnity programme and is exclusively open to FLINTAQ* people. We want to create a space where joy, healing and community come first.Moderator Amber Netten leads the conversation about the themes in the book: queer identities, community, healing and love.
