Sean Michael Sullivan is an Iowa singer-songwriter working at the crossroads of alternative folk and Americana. After moving back to Iowa in 2020 he has played more than 200 gigs. His 2023 release, Torn, Falls and Thunder, pairs close-mic’d arrangements with plainspoken lyrics that trace Midwest landscapes, family ties and an unflinching journey through mental-health struggle into recovery. 

Sean is the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist for Meadowbrook Circle, an alternative folk and Americana band rooted in family, harmony, and storytelling. At the heart of the group is the father-and-son duo of Sean Michael and Sean Thomas Sullivan (mandolin, mandola, tenor guitar, vocals). Their musical connection runs deep - since Sean M. was a child, the two have been trading harmonies and passing songs back and forth, building the bond that still anchors the band today. The lineup also includes Paul Perkins (banjo, vocals) and Joe Muller (bass, vocals), both longtime collaborators in Sean Michael's earlier recording projects. Together, the four musicians form a circle of sound that is as textured as it is intimate.
