Tyler Morrison will be leading a bird walk on Saturday, February 21st at McFarland Park in Ames. The walk will begin at 8:00am.
McFarland Park is a 200-acre area just north of Ames. The park offers visitors a variety of ecotypes to explore including tallgrass prairie, woodland, and stream habitats. Educational programs are offered year-round at the Story County Conservation Center located in the park.
Park Address: 56461 180th Street, Ames IA 50010
Please park in the main lot. The group will meet just outside the front entrance of the conservation center before the walk begins.
Monthly field trips are free and open to the public.
Unless it is stated otherwise, the field trips will generally end sometime between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, depending on interest and success in finding birds.
Field trips will almost always involve at least some hiking, usually away from hardened surfaces and often in less-than-ideal conditions. Please come prepared with appropriate dress and footwear. It is very highly recommended that all participants have their own pair of binoculars.
