- **Event Description**: In its 16th year, the Amelia Conference is one of Italy's foremost interdisciplinary gatherings dedicated to art and antiquities crime.About this EventEach summer, the hill town of Amelia becomes a meeting point for those working at the intersection of art, crime, and cultural heritage protection. Now in its sixteenth year, ARCA’s Amelia Conference continues to bring together an international community of professionals committed to understanding and addressing the complex realities of art and antiquities crime. The 2026 edition will open on the evening of Friday, 19 June, with a welcoming cocktail reception designed to encourage informal exchange among participants arriving from across the globe. This longstanding tradition provides an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, meet new collaborators, and begin the weekend’s conversations in a relaxed and collegial setting. The core of the conference will take place over Saturday and Sunday (20–21 June), featuring a series of focused panel sessions addressing current challenges in the field. Topics will explore the evolving dynamics of illicit trafficking, the role of financial and digital investigations, legal developments, restitution practices, and the responsibilities of market actors and cultural institutions. Sessions are designed not only to present research and casework, but to foster dialogue, debate, and critical reflection across disciplines. The Amelia Conference remains distinctive in its commitment to an open, non-adversarial format, where law enforcement professionals, legal experts, academics, museum practitioners, and private sector specialists engage directly with one another. This interdisciplinary approach reflects the reality that art crime cannot be addressed within silos, but requires coordinated understanding across sectors and borders. As the field continues to evolve, so too does the conference. The 2026 programme will build on past editions by encouraging more interactive sessions, including moderated discussions and contrasting viewpoints, allowing participants to examine not only what is known, but what remains unresolved.Who Should AttendThe conference welcomes an international audience, including:Law enforcement and investigative professionalsLegal practitioners and policy makersMuseum and cultural heritage professionalsAcademics and researchersArt market participants and risk specialistsStudents and emerging professionals in related fieldsNetworking OpportunitiesThe Amelia Conference offers several changes for informal discussion allowing our attendees to engage with the ideas, challenges, and conversations shaping the future of art crime research and cultural heritage protection.Friday, June 19 - Icebreaker CocktailSaturday, June 20 - Day One Conference Buffet Luncheon - **Saturday, June 20 - Italian Slow Food Conference Dinner - **Sunday, June 21- Day Two Conference Buffet Luncheon - **Please note: The Amelia Conference has sold out in previous years.
