This is NOT a race. You will have a set time to ride the course. Horse and riders in the leisure division, ride about 10 miles, and are judged as a team over about 5 obstacles. The other divisions have veterinary judging of horse on its condition and soundness, and the rider on management of the horse, safety, equitation as it pertains to trail riding. We would love to have you come ride with us, volunteer, or just stop by one afternoon to meet some competitors and ask questions

Originally settled in the 1800s under a variety of Homestead Acts, LBJ National Grasslands offer a 75-mile
network of trails covering the wind-swept prairies where the Chisholm Trail was used to move huge herds of cattle
northward, and the Comanche people roamed. Considered easy, barefoot friendly trails meander through hardwood
forests to flat, high open areas with panoramic views and plenty of natural ponds. All trail is natural with road used
only for crossings.
Valley View Campsite, off CR 2777, is an improved permanent equestrian campground; however, there is no
electricity or people water available. Composting toilets are provided. Horses may use sliding tethers. Dogs must be
on a leash at all times. No dogs at public meetings or meals per NATRC rules. There are restaurants, motels and
stores in Decatur and Alvord.
CAMPING FEES: Parking $10 per night per rig. Pay on the RMS with your entry. If you have a permit, bring it with
you. You can come early and/or stay late and pay $10 per night at the kiosk.
MEALS - $10 each meal. Friday and Saturday night. TBA
CHECK IN: Friday, 1:30 pm at the pavilion. Pre-ride examination by judges will begin at 2:30 pm. Current negative
Coggins papers must be presented on all horses in camp. Law requires current health papers for crossing state line.

DIRECTIONS: US287/81 to Business 287/81, turn right at red light, go over railroad tracks and go right at Pine
Street, left at Shankle, right at Beyette (following first three signs to Bethel Baptist Church). Approximately 6 miles,
just past Christie Saddlery and FS908, turn right at CR2677, then left at next road CR2675. At the “T” stay to the left
(CR2675) and follow signs to Valley View Campgrounds. You can also put Valley View Group Use Facility into
Google to get directions on your phone.
