We're excited to announce that we have secured the services of rock and roll legend Mike Sanchez - backed by 4-piece band The Portions- to play at JJJ on Saturday 28th June along with support from Joe James Thomas!
British singer and pianist Mike Sanchez is one of the most exciting and charismatic performers in the world of rhythm & blues and rock 'n' roll. His indelible image as a frenetic front man, pumping powerful boogie-woogie from the piano in a soaking suit, has won him fans from all over the world and attracted a following from many famous rock and blues legends who have lined up to work with him.
Procol Harum pianist Gary Brooker became an early fan and introduced Mike to his friends Eric Clapton and Amen Corner's Andy Fairweather-Low. The latter signed up as guitarist with the Big Town Playboys for two years in the 1990s. Fleetwood Mac's Mick Fleetwood is another good friend who has regularly involved Mike in his plans wherever possible.
In a stellar careers that's seen Mike play alongside such giants as Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Albert Lee and Dave Gilmour along with a 4 year stint with Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings, Mike - of whom Mark Lamarr said "Mike Sanchez would have invented rock 'n' roll if no one else had bothered!" - has travelled the world spreading the joy of rock 'n' roll and R&B wherever he can!
Support is provided by Wolverhampton's very own Joe James Thomas, making a welcome return to JJJ, a 25 years old musician specialising in Rock n Roll, Rhythm n Blues and Country who was featured on Channel 4's The Piano.
