About the event

Tolkien's Middle-earth
Penn State Altoona alumnus Carl Sell and Nick Katsiadas will offer a talk on J.R.R. Tolkien at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, in room 139 of the Hawthorn Building. The event is free and open to the public.

The pair will discuss their co-edited collection of essays, “Tolkien's Medievalism in Ruins: The Function of Relics and Ruins in Middle-earth,” and the collection's path to publication.

A graduate of Penn State Altoona’s English program, Sell is associate director for McNair and Undergraduate Research Programs at the University of Pittsburgh. He co-edited the book, co-wrote the book’s introduction, and wrote the chapter “The Blade of the King: Tolkien, Arthur, and the Remnants of Kingship.”
