Length of Trail: Approximately 4 ¼ Miles Round Trip
Route:
1. Hiking start point- Pere Marquette Visitors Center
2. Hickory South Trail - 1 ¼ Miles
3. Hickory North Trail - 1 Mile
4. Hickory Trail - ½ Mile
5. Goat Cliff - 1 ½ Mile
6. Hiking End Point- Pere Marquette Visitors Center


Forecasted Weather: As of June 1st,, 2026 the expected forecast is RAIN with temperatures ranging between 70 and 81 degrees Fahrenheit during the times expected
hiking.

Recommended Clothing: Long pants and long socks for long grass to help with preventing
ticks. Headwear for sun exposure also is recommended.

Recommended Items to Bring:
 At least one liter of water
 Sunscreen
 Bug spray (Highly Recommended)

Expected Duration of Hike: 3 - 4 ½ Hours (Depending on pacing)

Safety Considerations: Risk of high heat and contact with ticks. Terrain is at times steep,
uneven, slippery. Please hydrate the day prior and the day of the hike. 

Children are welcome if you believe they would be able to navigate the terrain, please note that you are
responsible for your child during the duration of the hike, and that strollers or wagons would be unsafe along this hike for your child. 

Extra water and First aid supplies will be
carried by event staff if needed during the hike.

Hiking with a dog: Dogs are allowed in the park on the trails. All dogs must be kept on a
leash, and their waste must be picked up and removed (IDNR). 

If your dog is not
comfortable or friendly with other dogs or people please keep your furry friend home
to keep themselves safe as well as the other guests.
