Staying local for Spring Break….or want a reason for a fun road trip?
Check out our special programming during “Spring Break in the Sanctuary,” Monday, March 30 to Friday, April 3.
MONDAY: An updated museum scavenger hunt will be released! Stop in the museum anytime between 8am and 5pm and pick up your scavenger hunt at the front desk. There will also be a coloring and craft table bonus exhibit that day.
TUESDAY: Movie day! Pick a 10am or a 1pm showing. Disney’s "The Little Mermaid" and "Shark Riddle" will be playing in the theater. Grab a special shark craft on the way out too!
WEDNESDAY: The state's Michigan History Center will set up a special interactive exhibit that brings Michigan history to life, beyond the shipwrecks already featured throughout the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center.
THURSDAY: Movie day! Pick a 10am or a 1pm showing. "Nim’s Island" and "Riddle in a Bottle" will be playing in the theater. Grab a special craft on the way out too!
FRIDAY: Meet "Teek & Tom" from NOAA’s animated ocean show! They will be looping in the theater all day and an accompanying ocean and winter craft will be available too.
Popcorn and snacks available for purchase in the Sanctuary Store gift shop. All programming and museum admission is free.
The Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center (GLMHC) is a shipwreck museum and visitor center for Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, which is 4,300 square miles of Lake Huron designated as a protected area because of nearly 200 nationally significant and well-preserved shipwrecks. The GLMHC is free of admission and open weekdays from 8am to 5pm, Saturdays 10am to 5pm, and Sundays noon to 5pm.
