- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 16 May, 2026 at 11:00 am – Sun, 17 May, 2026 at 03:00 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: Ride the Narrow Gauge railway back to World War I!

Duration:
1.5 hours

About The Experience:
Board your train at Sheepscot station (97 Cross Road, Alna) for a 75 minute steam-powered ride through the pine forests, farmlands and hamlets of the Sheepscot Valley to Trout Brook. After a short layover to allow the locomotive to "run-around" the train, we'll double-back to Alna Center for a historic surprise!

At Alna Center, Maine's 103rd Regiment Living History reenactors will be encamped. Stop in to learn about the 3rd Maine Regiment, which was raised as a State Guard to protect important parts of infrastructure, such as railroad facilities. Drills and activities will be ongoing throughout the weekend, with a special emphasis placed on how civilians on the home front were affected by and contributed to the war effort.

After our layover at the WWI encampment, we'll return back to Sheepscot station where you'll want to explore our railyard, examine our displays, and peruse our gift shop

Ticket price includes the steam train ride, admission to the WWI encampment, as well as parking at Sheepscot.

Note that passengers requiring extra assistance, including those in wheelchairs can be accommodated on this train (however, detraining at Alna Center to view the encampment may be a challenge.) Well-behaved dogs are allowed at the discretion of the Conductor.

During the Reenactment, trains depart from Sheepscot station (97 Cross Road, Alna) at 11a, 1p, and 3p on Saturday May 16 and 10a & 1p on Sunday May 17.

We look forward to seeing you on the narrow gauge!

SPECIAL FLYOVER - 11AM on SATURDAY!
By special arrangement with our friends from Owls Head Transportation Museum - a WWI flyover is scheduled to take place during the 11am Saturday encampment inspection stop! Don't miss this unique opportunity to ride the rails and view the skies!

Subject to weather and pilot availability, two WWI-era planes are scheduled to be "helping the State Guard with the security of the rail line" during the 11am trip on Saturday, May 17. Good photos should be available of the train, troops, and planes as they fly over the field at Alna Center. While there is no extra charge for this special event, seating is very limited and advance ticket purchase is highly recommended.

About 103rd Regiment Living History:
103rd Regiment Living History is a group of WW1 living historians who set up educational displays and encampments throughout New England depicting the common Doughboy.
