A conversation with Professor Catherine Stoddart Chief Executive Department of Health NT (Alice Springs)
In January 2019 Professor Catherine Stoddard, Chief Executive Officer of NT Health will be hosting a conversation in Alice Springs to explore how NT Health can partner with other organisations to improve health, prevent disease and reduce inequalities.
Poverty remains a consistent public health challenge. Fresh and radical approaches are required if material progress is to be made. Tackling health inequalities can only be done in partnership with local communities, public sector partners and the non-government sector, especially Aboriginal community controlled health organisations. Improving health outcomes in the Northern Territory will require harnessing the expertise and engaging the skills of all members of the community.
The health system is only one player in addressing the social, emotional and health issues of the population. NT Health seeks to create an open, fair and just culture so that we can collaborate with communities and organisations to address the social determinants.
