What You’ll Learn & Create: This project is a fantastic step up for those who want to challenge themselves or have tried pottery before. While it has a few more parts, don't worry - we will guide you through the entire process step-by-step! The Structure: We will use slab-building to form a neat, sturdy cylinder. Then, we'll use press moulds to form the perfect bowl shapes to attach to the top and bottom of the cylinder. You will hand-draw and carefully cut out your own custom "drip" designs, adding small balls of clay to create the drips and a flowing wax effect. Lastly, we will make another bowl using the press mould for the top to hold the wax. Once your burner is finished, it will be taken away to be carefully dried, bisque-fired, glazed in your chosen colour combinations, and kiln-fired to high stoneware temperatures. You will have a choice of glaze colours: To make the illusion work beautifully, the top dripping section will be glazed one colour, perhaps a classic white. You get total creative control over the base i.e. the bottom section of your burner - choose a colour that matches your home decor perfectly! This is a brilliantly fun, satisfying project that requires a little patience but rewards you with a truly unique, functional piece of art. It not only creates a beautiful, warm candlelit glow but makes your home smell amazing, too! Complexity Levels 4-5: The Crafter This session is designed for those who enjoy a detailed project.
