Through a Franco-Brazilian dialogue, the collective exhibition ‘Green Pathways’ (original French title 'Bifurcations végétales') is questioning the notion of agriculture based on studying the past and present. Going backwards from linear visions of progress, the question of settling down and the ‘Neolithic revolution’ (agriculture and ceramics) has been redefined at an international level by archaeologists, anthropologists and historians. In opposition to the dominant capitalist and ecocidal model, this exhibition follows in the footsteps of the book written by David Graeber and David Wengrow 'The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity'. What do these revisions teach us about our present and future connections to the soil and non-human living beings? In a context of rising the far-right, as well as ecological, social and economic crises, how can artistic practices encourage ecological and social change? How can we live differently, build community and solidarity? How can we fight for small-scale farming? And how are artists involved in these discussions and struggles? Facing climate and societal emergency, a paradigm shift and the dismantling of domination structures are absolutely necessary.
