🌈⛈️ METEOROLOGY MARCH at Treehouse Children’s Museum! ☀️🌪️
Get ready for a full month of hands-on weather science, creative experiments, and exciting community partnerships during Meteorology March! All month long, children will explore the wonders of the atmosphere through art, STEM activities, and special guest collaborations.
Here’s what’s blowing in this March:
🌈 Week 1 (3/3–3/7)
• Rainbow Painting – Discover how light and water create rainbows.
• 3/7 Windchimes – Explore wind energy and sound by building your own chime.
☁️ Week 2 (3/10–3/14)
• Rain Cloud Mobile – Learn how clouds form and create your own hanging weather model.
• 3/14 Pie Day with LSUA – Celebrate Pi Day with hands-on math and science fun in partnership with LSUA.
🌬️ Week 3 (3/17–3/21)
• Cloud Spotters – Identify different types of clouds and what they tell us about the weather.
• 3/21 Wind Catchers with the LA STEM Center – Engineer a tool that captures and measures wind movement.
🌪️ Week 4 (3/24–3/28)
• Cloud in a Bottle – Create a mini atmosphere and see condensation in action.
• 3/28 Tornados with KALB First Alert Weather – Learn how tornadoes form and meet local weather experts!
🌎 Week 5 (3/31–4/4)
• Atmosphere Jars – Build layered models of Earth’s atmosphere.
• 4/4 Cyanotypes – Use sunlight to create stunning weather-inspired prints.
This month is designed to spark curiosity, introduce real-world STEM concepts, and connect children with local science leaders including CENLA STEM Center (Region 6), LSUA, and KALB First Alert Weather.
Every activity is hands-on, interactive, and designed for young learners to explore how weather shapes our world—from sunshine to storms.
