After completing teacher training and studying Fine Art at Brighton Polytechnic in the late 1970s, he taught art in Worthing, England, and later in Sweden. In 1983, Fraser left teaching to devote himself fully to painting and exhibiting his work.Although he initially worked in oils and watercolor, Fraser found that neither medium delivered the intensity and clarity of color he was seeking. He eventually turned to egg tempera—a demanding technique dating back centuries that combines pigment with egg yolk as a binder. With little contemporary instruction available, Fraser spent nearly a decade developing his own method, refining the meticulous process that now defines his work. His still life compositions are carefully arranged to create a sense of quiet atmosphere, often accompanied by titles that hint at the memories and associations behind them.Fraser’s paintings have been exhibited widely, with shows in London, Amsterdam, New York, Toronto, and Washington.
