Anthony Poggo is the Secretary General of the Anglican Communion. He provides strategic leadership to the Anglican Communion Office, which is the official Secretariat to the Anglican Communion, based at St Andrew's House in London, UK.Bishop Anthony was appointed Secretary General on 1 September 2022 having previously served at Lambeth Palace, as the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Advisor on Anglican Communion Affairs. Ordained a deacon in 1995 and a priest in 1996, Bishop Anthony has served in a range of ministry and leadership roles, including Executive Director of the Christian mission agency "Across", before being elected Bishop of Kajo-Keji in 2007.As an ambassador of the communion, The Secretary General represents the Communion to governments and wider society, making regular visits to Member Churches around the globe and taking time to pray for churches, encourage their ministries and express solidarity with Anglicans in places facing humanitarian crises. The Secretary General also encourages collaboration across the Anglican Communion, as well as fostering ecumenical and interfaith relations. His responsibilities include supporting Primates’ Meetings, the Anglican Consultative Council and its Standing Committee, and serving as secretary to the Lambeth Conference.
