Call Out to the Australian Circus and Physical Theatre Community.
 
Something BIG is about to happen!
 
Balancing Acts, a film about the extraordinary Guang Rong Lu OAM aka Mr Lu, is in the making.
The film is being directed and produced by Mitzi Goldman, Looking Glass Pictures and Qian (Jess) Zhang from Playking Productions.
 
Mitzi has known Mr Lu for quite some time and has been gathering footage of Mr Lu and the broader circus community 
for over 10 years.
 
In August Mitzi and Qian will be heading to the Flying Fruit Fly Circus in Albury to do some filming with FFFC, Gravity and Other Myths and various artists and friends of Mr Lu.
 
The team assisting Mitzi and Qian, (BAGS) have a dream - to film Basic Training “en masse”!!
Our hope is to create a powerful visual representation of the ripple effect that Mr Lu and the Nanjing Project have had on the Australian circus community - bringing together the generations of artists, students, teachers and friends whose lives and practice have been shaped by this extraordinary legacy.
 
Reminiscent of the Nanjing One project in 1983, we would love to fill the FFFC training space or the oval over the road with 100,200 + people, all doing Basic Training (kicks, handstand, stretches). 
 
We are looking for any Basic Training enthusiasts - people who have known, trained, worked with Mr Lu, people who just happen to know Basic Training, people who want to be part of a large physical, fun event, people of all ages, all abilities, people who can’t kick anymore but want to be involved.
 
There will be catering, nothing fancy.
There will be a warm-up, nothing too strenuous.
There will be loads of laughs and a good time for all.
 
Come and be a part of something special, something never to be repeated, something that recognises the enormous effect Mr Lu and the art of basic training had on the circus artform in Australia.

Below are the details for the event. We have scheduled it around the train timetable Melbourne/Albury same day return. The train is cheap!
 
Shoot day:
Sunday 9th August.
 
7.07am - Train departs Melbourne  
10.43am - Train Arrives Albury 
11.30pm to 3pm - Shoot at Fruities  
3pm - Bit of a BBQ for all
5.27pm or 9.01pm - Train departs Albury
