The Kipsies are an Albuquerque-based quintet making modern music on traditional instruments, drawing on influences as varied as Opeth and Joni Mitchell. Formed from the ashes of Breaking Blue, they’ve taken their sound from the Telluride Bluegrass Festival to small-town Colorado stages. Their music layers banjo, fiddle, cajon, harmonium, bass, and drums into arrangements that are both precise and deeply felt. After twelve years together, The Kipsies have built a sound that is unmistakably their own.
