Join us for a Sunflower U-Pick experience at Big Jim Farms! Starting July 5th, our famous Sunflower U-Pick opens for the season—offering not only sunflowers but also a variety of vibrant blooms like zinnias, marigolds, cosmos, and wildflowers. We provide all the tools you need to gather your bouquet, including clippers and mason jars, so all you have to bring is yourself and your camera to capture the memories.
We’re excited to kick off the season at Big Jim Farms, a U-Pick farm located in Albuquerque’s North Valley at 3521 Rio Grande Blvd NW. We’re open daily from 8AM to 6PM, and it’s always free to visit the farm, walk around, and enjoy the scenery. You’ll also meet our friendly farm animals during your visit.
Instead of planting everything at once, we’ve staggered the plantings into smaller harvests that bloom monthly. This way, the season isn’t short-lived—you can return throughout the summer and fall to enjoy fresh flowers blooming from July through October.
Want to add to the experience? We’re offering flower arranging workshops on weekends where you can learn the basics of floral design and composition. This will be a great way to get creative with your fresh-picked blooms and enjoy a community experience. (Must book in advance on our website.)
Also new this year: we have our own in-house photographer to capture your special memories! In collaboration with Hillary Christina Photography, we are scheduling mini photo sessions in the flower fields. Whether you have a graduation, engagement, or family photo session, this is the perfect setting. Sessions are $75 per family. (Must book in advance on our website.) If you have your own professional photographer and want to use our fields as the backdrop, you can book the farm exclusively for your photoshoot. (Must book in advance on our website.)
When you visit, our farm stand will be open with fresh-picked produce from our fields daily, and our honey, salsa, and more.
Our Sunflower U-Pick starts in July, and in August, our green chile U-Pick will be opening! This year we planted a huge field of green chile from mild to XXX hot! All our crops are organically grown without sprays, pesticides, or fertilizers. Nowhere else can you pick green chile straight from the plant. Big Jim Farms, gives you the freshest, healthiest, and most flavorful chile possible.

Cost:
Free entry — you only pay for what you pick. A bouquet with a mason jar costs about $20. Green chile is priced per basket, and produce is priced per pound.
What to Expect:
We’re a working farm with uneven surfaces and exposure to the elements. Please wear comfortable shoes, bring a hat, water, and sunscreen. Drinks are available for purchase on weekends only. Feel free to bring a blanket and picnic or use one of our many picnic tables to relax and enjoy the farm.
