Aida

The grandest of grand operas returns to the NHCC this February.

Aida is a story carved in stone and smoke. A woman caught between two countries. A soldier who betrays both. A rival whose love curdles into revenge. Beneath the monuments of ancient Egypt, the personal becomes political, and desire turns deadly. Verdi’s music is commanding. Blazing choruses. Secret prayers. Lovers whispering beneath the roar of war. The triumphal march is hollow; the real drama is buried deep, under layers of loyalty and grief. This is grand opera at its most intimate; the battlefield is inside the heart. Michelle Johnson (Turandot 2023 and Lohengrin 2019) returns in the title role, alongside Olivia Vote (Verdi’s Requiem 2025 & Norma 2018 ) as Amneris, Dane Suarez makes his company debut as Radames, and OSW favorite Matt Hanscom returns as Amonasro.
