In this 90-minute workshop you'll explore the art of storytelling and learn how to translate concept, emotion, and narrative into movement, music, and performance. Whether you're working toward a solo routine, a showcase piece, or simply want to bring more intention and artistry to your practice, this workshop will change the way you think about performing.

What We'll Cover:

Part One: The Foundation of Storytelling (30 mins)
We'll explore the 4 Pillars of Storytelling: People, Place, Plot, and Purpose and the 5 C's : Context, Character, Conflict, Choices, and Change. Through discussion and writing exercises, you'll begin building the concept behind your own performance piece, with real examples from past routines to show how an idea goes from concept to stage.

Part Two: Music, Musicality & Movement (30 mins)
Learn how to choose a song that serves your story, how to truly know your music, find your bailouts, and use props intentionally to support your narrative.

Part Three: Movement to Pole (30 mins)
Put it all together! Explore movement across three performance styles: Dramatic, Romantic, and Comic. Discover how the same story can feel completely different depending on how you choose to tell it.

What to bring: Comfortable clothes, a pen, and paper.
