Build your drawing skills and learn how to see like an artist in this two‑session class with Teresa Ricci. Designed for beginners and returning students alike, this course focuses on breaking down complex scenes into simple, manageable shapes so you can approach drawing with confidence. You’ll work in charcoal as you learn how to use lines and mental grids to simplify what you see, establish accurate proportions, and build strong compositions. Teresa will guide you step‑by‑step, helping you understand how everyday objects can be translated into clear forms that lead to a finished, dimensional drawing.

Each session builds on the last:
-  Day One: Drawing Basics — Learn foundational skills for seeing and simplifying forms while working from individual objects.
-  Day Two: Full Still Life — Apply your new skills to a complete still‑life setup and create a finished charcoal drawing.

By the end of the class, you’ll have a stronger understanding of observational drawing and a completed still‑life piece to take home. Supplies are not included in the workshop fee. A PDF supply list is available in the workshop description.

Our courses are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy and participate in our classes.
