# Event Details - **Event Name**: Garden Planting Day - **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 24 Jan, 2026 at 02:00 pm – Sat, 24 Jan, 2026 at 04:00 pm - **Event Description**: Planting Day in the Library Garden at the Albany BulbAbout this EventIt’s that time of year for planting California plants!  Join Love the Bulb for our (somewhat) annual planting day in Freeman’s Library Garden at 2pm on Saturday, January 24, 2026.  We’ll be planting plants, clearing weeds, and doing general maintenance.Love the Bulb started the garden at the Albany Bulb in 2016 by tucking some sticky monkeyflower and ceanothus into the concrete rubble on the former site of the Library built by residents of the Bulb.  Thanks to the generous support of volunteers, donors and the Albany Community Foundation, we’ve continued adding to this California garden every year, growing it to include nearly 50 species and over 120 individual plants, art and sculptural seating. It’s a delight to see what thrives in the garden, and to observe all of the critters and humans who come out to enjoy the plants and scenery.Please register so you can receive updates like rain cancellations.And, if you are able, you can help expand the garden bythat will go toward purchasing new plants!Other Event Details:Meet at 2pm near the bathrooms(1 Buchanan Ave), we'll walk to the garden together from there In addition to planting, we will also be doing some weeding and other general maintenance.If you're able, please bring extra water to water in our new plants (you'll just need to transport the water from the bathrooms out to the garden - about a 15 minute walk)You are welcome to bring your own work gloves and hand tools, but we will have extras on hand for you to borrow if you need themSnacks will be provided. Please bring your own drinking waterWear close-toed shoes, layers, a hat and bring a bottle of water for yourself.Parking is very limited at the Bulb, with a 2-hr limit (the City does ticket).
