Down by the Riverside: Ancestral Procession & Offering
Twice each year, our community gathers by the water to remember, honor, and give thanks to those who walked before us.
Down by the Riverside is a sacred yet joyful communal ceremony where art, spirit, memory, and fellowship meet. Together we will celebrate the lives and legacies of our ancestors through creative expression, ritual, and shared connection.
Throughout the evening you can experience:
• Live performances from poets, singers, and storytellers
• A community art walk featuring original works by local artists
• A communal meal as we break bread together
• Traditional libation, prayer, and ancestral remembrance
• Offering of flowers and herbs to the river
• A community drum circle to close the gathering
This is a family-friendly event — bring your elders, bring your children, and bring your spirit. Whether you come to reflect, celebrate, grieve, or simply be present, you are welcome.
Join us as we stand at the water’s edge, call their names, and remember that we are because they were.
Come gather with us. Come honor with us. Come home to the ancestors.
