Register & attend to learn more.About the Speakers:Evelyn Kamili King served as Project Manager for the Schuyler Flatts Burial Project, after archeologists discovered several graves at Schuyler Flatts, Menands, NY, in 2005, containing, in all, 14 individuals. Investigation revealed that the remains were of African descent and roughly 200 years old. That and other data led to the conclusion that they were likely enslaved by the prominent Schuyler family. Ms. King will discuss the discovery and analysis of data, the story of the reburial of the remains, and the topic of slavery in New York State. In addition to managing the Schuyler Flatts Burial Project, Evelyn Kamili King has spent many years working in the public education sector with a focus on advocating for at-risk African American youth. She holds a master’s degree from the College of St. Rose and a bachelor's degree from California State University.Kathryn Kosto, Albany County Historical Association, Executive Director. She previously served as curator of the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow House (Cambridge MA), and an archives specialist with the papers of Frederick Law Olmsted (Brookline MA). She studied 18th century Dutch at Leiden University (Netherlands).
