Arrival Day!Info: Participants will drop off their horses at the Alamo Arena. They will feed and water their horses at this time. Parent/Guardians will then drive the youth to the camp to check in with 4-H Staff by 5:30pm. 🕑: 05:30 PM - 10:00 PMJune 15- First Evening at 4-H Overnight Horse Camp! Info: 4-H Horse Camp Participants will be fed dinner, explore the camp, learn camp expectations and rules, meet their fellow camp-mates, play some fun Horse Quiz Bowl Games, and get settled into their cabin for the week's exciting activities. 🕑: 06:00 AM - 10:00 PMJune 16- Equitation, Control, Patterns, Foundation SkillsInfo: 4-H Campers will wake up at 6AM to head to the arena to take care of their horses feed and water. They will then return to camp for breakfast and to break into their groups for the day. After breakfast, campers will return to the arena to warm up their horses and head into their sessions on horseback. The participants will have a full day of lessons and activities on horseback along with a picnic lunch and then will head back to the camp for crafts and free time. They will eat their dinner at the camp and then head back to the arena for more horse fun and taking care of their horses for the evening. Upon arrival to the camp, participants will enjoy campfire games and s'mores as a group. 🕑: 06:00 AM - 10:00 PMJune 17- Horsemanship Patterns, Showmanship LessonsInfo: 4-H Campers will be back at the arena to take care of their horses for the morning. They will return to camp for breakfast and then will be put into their groups for the day. After instructions, they will head back to the arena to start lessons on horsemanship patterns along with a desensitizing clinic. After lunch at the arena the campers will head back to camp for some free time and craft time along with dinner. After dinner, campers will head back to the arena and saddle up for a sunset trail ride. After the trail ride campers will return to the arena to take care of their horses for the evening. Then return to camp for campfire reflections and games. 🕑: 06:00 AM - 06:00 PMJune 18- Trail Obstacles, Horse Baths, and Horse OlympicsInfo: Campers will wake up at 6AM to feed and take care of their horses. Then they will return for breakfast and overview of the schedule for the day. They will then head back to the arena to warm up their horses and start their morning workshop activities on obstacles for their horses. Upon completion they will wash their horses. After they are done, they will head back to camp for lunch and then dive into horse-themed camp Olympics. They will finish up their time at camp with post camp evaluations and the traditional paper plate awards. Parents will come to camp to check out their campers and head back to the arena to clean out stalls.
