Alamance County America 250 Celebration

The Alamance County America 250 NC Celebration will take place at Alamance Battleground on Saturday, March 7th, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Join us for an inspiring day of lectures, living history demonstrations, and hands on experiences as we commemorate the upcoming 250th anniversary of America’s independence.

Step inside the historic Allen House to experience the sights and aromas of open hearth cooking and meet an 18th century surgeon to learn about the medical practices used on the battlefield during the War of Independence. Throughout the day, costumed reenactors will present living history, musket demonstrations and an artillery demonstration, bringing the era to life.

At 1 PM, historian Dr. Carole Watterson Troxler will deliver an illuminating talk, “1781: When the American Revolution Hovered in Alamance County.”

Visitors can also explore the compelling traveling exhibit “People of Colonial North Carolina,” which highlights the diverse and often conflicting experiences of the communities who called North Carolina home during the American Revolution. Through maps, rare documents, and vivid illustrations, the exhibit reveals how the struggle for independence shaped everyday lives. This exhibit will be available for one day only in the Alamance Battleground auditorium.

Enjoy lunch on the grounds courtesy of Carolina’s Finest Feast food truck and plan to spend the day discovering Alamance County’s pivotal role in the fight for American independence.
