During this hike, we will walk in periods of silence while engaging in listening exercises before discussing sounds heard, impacts of noise pollution, and how we can create healthy soundscapes where we live.Our route will take us past waterfalls and through wooded habitat offering an array of different sounds, as well as beautiful scenery.This hike is well-suited for those who find comfort in a quiet walk through the woods.What to Expect and How to Prepare: Anticipate a 1.5-mile leisurely out-and-back route with some moderate uphill and downhill sections and some rocks. Most of this hike will take place in silence with some facilitated sharing exercises. Bring water, snacks, pertinent personal first aid, and hiking poles (optional). A port-a-john is available in the parking lot.Hike Leaders: Kate Prisby, Lancaster Conservancy Interpretive Ranger, and Matt Crosbie, PA Department of Conservation & Natural Resources Bureau of ForestryAnimal Policy: Service animals active or in training are welcome. Please leave all pets at home.Refund Policy: If you are unable to attend this event after purchasing a ticket, refund requests must be made at least 48 hours before the event.Cancellation Policy: This event will be held rain or shine, with cancellation decided at the time of the event for severe weather. If the Conservancy reschedules the event, attendees will be emailed, and tickets will be automatically moved to the new date.
