Join HWF on a guided birdwalk for youth and teens!About this EventPlease note that registration is required and carpooling is highly encouraged.Join HWF for an afterschool youth birdwalk led by our Education & Grants Coordinator, Heather Levy. Children and teens ages 12-17 accompanied by an adult are welcome. We will begin at the Tea Cottage Entrance (33.5566, -81.7530/Dibble Rd across from Rhone St) and walk a ~1.5 mile loop to explore the diversity of birdlife in Hitchcock Woods, focusing on migrants and breeding birds. Trails are sandy and hilly, but we will walk slowly and make frequent stops. Open daily from sunrise to sunset, its 70 miles of trails offer a haven to the public on foot and horseback. Owned and managed by the Hitchcock Woods Foundation, the Woods comprise a mosaic of mature pine forests and bottomland hardwood forests, supporting a diversity of plants and wildlife. The Woods is protected in perpetuity by a conservation easement held by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and is a designated South Carolina Heritage Preserve Trust site.
