- **Event Description**: A fun and interactive workshop that explores the nuances of performance poetry, in collaboration with The Project Cafe. 

The workshop will focus on the difference between writing for the page and writing for the stage. It will teach you ways to approach a poem, whether through visual techniques or writing exercises. The workshop will cover group exercises, and individual exercises that are tailored to meet your specific needs. We will also drown our senses in spoken word performances and exchange views and opinions on what works and what doesn't. 

Bring a pen, paper and a poem you want to work on, rest will be provided. :)

About the facilitator: 

Rochelle is a page/performance poet who writes about her travels, cultural influences and personal experiences. Her spoken word journey began in Melbourne at an open mic at the Brunswick Hotel in 2011. Since then, she has won an Encouragement Award at the coveted Doris Leadbetter Poetry Cup, represented Melbourne spoken word on Indifeed, been featured in Peril Magazine as a contemporary Asian-Australian poet, published two chapbooks, been featured in numerous poetry anthologies, collaborated with Hip Hop artist Hau and has her poetry featured on his 2015 album titled - The No End Theory, won slams and organised poetry events as part of the Melbourne Fringe festival. She has published an anthology titled 'A Converseation in Four Parts' in collaboration with 3 other poets from Mumbai. She was featured at the infamous Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Feb 2016 and been a judge at various college fests like Mood Indigo 2014, Malhar 2015 and Zenith 2015. She was part of Words Express – Spoken Word Jatra, a poetry tour in Nepal, (Sept 2016) featuring international poets from Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and the one and only Sarah Kay. She recently featured at the Poets Translating Poets Festival organised by the Goethe Institute in Mumbai in Nov 2016. She put out a poetry and music EP titled Best Apology Face with Melbourne composer Meena Shamaly in March 2017.
