Kalamkari Art Workshop
Kalamkari is an ancient Indian art which originated 3000 years ago. Its derives from the word "kalam" meaning "pen" and "kari" meaning "craftsmanship", literally pen work. The kalamkari artist uses a bamboo or palm stick pointed at one end and a bundle of fine hair attached to this pointed end to serve as the brush of the pen.
These drawings were done on cotton fabric only but now-a-days they are done on other mediums even. The colours used in these paintings are organic. Most of the colours are used from roots of the plants, plants, leaves, with mineral salts of iron, copper, tin, aluminium which are used as mordants.
