Megaprojects have become a prominent trend in infrastructure development across the world. These projects attract the attention of all stakeholders like engineers, policymakers, and planners and so on, owing to sheer size, resource requirements, timelines, and investments. The drive towards megaprojects is from the needs and aspirations of citizens and policymakers in the domain of transportation – metro rail, roads, airports, sports, and tourism infrastructure, irrigation, special investment regions. There is no doubt that these megaprojects will substantially contribute to the socio-economic development of nations. Although, it has been observed that megaproject often comes across time and cost overruns due to the complexity and uncertainties faced in planning, execution, and operation of megaprojects. In this context, this workshop dwells upon the experiences in the implementation of megaprojects, and ways and means of improving the practice with aligned theory and research.
