Listen to live music and experience rarely-seen wildlife research images.About this EventJoin this free musical performance where music meets wildlife research. Hosted by National Park Service, Western National Parks, and Santa Monica Mountains Fund, this live musical performance features wildlife research images. After the performance, a short panel discussion between musicians and park staff will highlight some of the research and work hosted by the park.Signs of Life is a performance where wildlife camera trap images are recomposed as a musical score and performed live with musicians. The featured images included in this evening’s “camera trap opera” will provide the audience with a sample of the data currently being collected by the National Park Service and partners as part of ongoing research to better understand the impact of the Woolsey Fire and other wildfires across the Santa Monica Mountains and nearby mountain ranges. The performance invites musicians to collaborate with the landscape, and for the animals themselves to be the conductors of an emerging imagistic-musical, which experimentally captures, interprets, and responds to the natural score of an ecology composed by the surprising appearances of normally furtive wildlife. After the performance, NPS will host a conversation between the musicians and the staff who continue to collect and analyze the camera trap data.Musicians: Chris McKelway (piano), Matthew Doyle (percussion), Nicki Chen (electroacoustic viola), Alan S.
