WHAT IS WORLD LINDY HOP DAY?
World Lindy Hop Day celebrates and honours the historical and cultural significance of Lindy Hop as an African American social dance. Lindy Hop emerged in Black communities in the US during a time of significant racial segregation; by celebrating World Lindy Hop Day we honour not only Frankie Manning's legacy, but the legacy of his peers; the original creators and innovators of Lindy Hop. 💭 WHAT TO BRING?
Vintage attire encouraged, but wear whatever you're comfortable in. If you're dancing, please wear closed toe shoes (peeptoe is okay, but no thongs or sandals).
Please bring a water bottle, and anything else you need to feel comfortable dancing (hand fan, spare shirt etc). Tea and coffee facilities provided.
This event is held on the lands of the Kaurna people, who are the Traditional Custodians of the Adelaide Plains. We pay respect to their cultural and spiritual beliefs and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.
