Doug and April Corkwell have lived in Okawville for nearly 20 years, building a life for themselves including their son Hunter, and grandchildren Zowie & Tobi. In 2020, Doug was diagnosed with avascular necrosis, he has underwent a failed bone marrow transplant & 3 hip replacements, the most recent in October 2025. These health issues have left Doug out of work. In July of 2022 April was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer, she has underwent four surgical procedures, and traveling to the Mayo Clinic for treatment. Most recently, April learned that her cancer has spread, and has started a new targeted chemotherapy treatment. The heavy burden of these illnesses, including the treatment & travel expenses have weighed heavily on their family.
