Overview of class:

Learn the basics of screen printing on paper using a simple one-colour design. You will be shown how to coat your screens with emulsion and how to transfer your image onto the screen by exposing them in a light exposure unit. We will discuss the different screens and paints available and the tools you will need to start creating your own screen prints independently after the workshop. After we have completed screen-printing, you will be shown how to wash up your screens and remove your images.

What is provided:

There is a separate materials fee of $20 payable to Sharran on the day.

- Access to screen printing equipment for the day, screen, etc.

- Paint, limited palette; if you want a specific colour, you are encouraged to bring your own acrylic paint.

- 2 x transparency

- Paper supplied: If you need extra paper, you can purchase it from the printmaker’s workshop or bring some watercolour paper if you want additional prints.

What participants need to bring:

Students are encouraged to bring images that they would like to print to class. A high contrast, uncomplicated A4 size black and white image will need to be emailed to the tutor one week before the workshop so that it can be printed transparently.
